COMFORT ZONE
an old man's having supper in his kitchen
a worried mother's waiting for a call
a priest starts having doubts 'bout his religion
a small girl's playing with her broken doll
a camera man's work is out of focus
a flower child is offering free hugs
a bank manager's greedy for a bonus
a teenage girl experiments with drugs
and all those people
are people I have known
now they live their lives
secluded and alone
believe it or not
it's what they call their comfort zone
a censor's marking art as pornographic
a movie star is soaking in her bath
her brother is caught up in heavy traffic
a hiker's lost and looking for the path
a gentleman in love is buying flowers
though his lover is a nasty brat
a factory worker toils about ten hours
a beggar's trying hard to fill his hat
and all those people
are people I have known
now they live their lives
secluded and alone
believe it or not
it's what they call their comfort zone
(ah, look at all those lonely people)
a salesman sleeps alone in his hotel room
a trucker's working hard to keep his job
a whitefaced clown has trouble with his costume
a woman fails in her attempt to sob
(all the lonely people, where do they all come from)
a cleaning lady's sick of taking orders
a diver's being frightened of a shark
a president builds walls along the borders
a secretary's resting in the park
all those people
are people I have known
now they live their lives
secluded and alone
(ah, look at all those lonely people)
believe it or not
it's what they call their comfort zone
believe it or not
they’re calling this a comfort zone
