Green Point, 24 December 2017

A letter of thanks and gratitude:

This is to thank all the amazing paramedics, the resuscitation team and wonderful, dedicated staff in ICU at Gosford Hospital for their professional care and compassion to my husband, Georg Ludstock during those three harrowing days and two nights from November 20 until 22, 2017.

Although my Georg was unable to be saved due to too many complications, I am eternally grateful to you all for every professional effort and knowhow to make his last 3 days comfortable, pain-free, dignified and peaceful.  Also for the compassionate care you all showed not only to Georg, but to myself and Markus as well.  Special thanks also to Doctor Rob Cameron while explaining Georg’s horrific medical condition and outcome, making it clear to us that a normal quality of life was no longer possible, yet with so much compassion and understanding for our situation and emotions.

For making me feel “not in the way” and being so incredibly understanding for what I was going through, the heartache (pun unintended) of watching my beloved husband suffer the initial cardiac arrest until the time of his passing.  For providing a bed for me right next to him for those two nights so that I could listen to his steady breathing and just “be there” with him.

For all this and more, I thank you all from the bottom of my heart and also on behalf of his son Markus who flew from Switzerland and arrived just a matter of hours before his dear Papa passed away... I will never know how much Georg could hear what I/we were saying to him but I feel very sure that he knew I was there during those long, incredibly sad, yet so meaningful and precious hours, and that gives me much comfort.

I loved Georg totally and miss him terribly, but I know life must go on and even in all this grief there is so much for which I am truly thankful.

Our very best wishes to you all for a happy Christmas and a healthy New Year.

With heartfelt thanks,

Janice and Markus Ludstock
